An honest wood-cutter
Once there lived a poor wood-cutter in a village. He
was very honest. One day he was cutting wood near a river. Suddenly his axe
fell into the river. The wood-cutter did not know how to swim. So he was
sitting there sadly. Then a beautiful
fairy appeared there. She asked him why he was sitting sadly. He told her whole
incident. The fairy took pity on him. Then She went into the river and came back with a golden axe. But The
wood-cutter refused her to take it. The
fairy went again and back with a silver one. But The he refused her to take it.
Finally she brought the axe of the man. This time the man happily took his axe.
The fairy became pleased with his honesty and gave him the other axes as
reward.
